How we got here: Inside the 20-Metre Line to San Adrián de Cobres

Vilagarcía de Arousa, Galicia → San Adrián de Cobres, Galicia

Headwind the whole way down from Vilagarcía, so it was motoring and motor-sailing throughout — 41.5 nm, 7h45m, engine on the entire leg. Stayed inside the 20m depth contour along the coast, following the recent advice after another round of orca encounters further up this stretch.

About an hour out from the marina, already into the Ría de Vigo, the boat suddenly started vibrating — a small offcut of fishing net had caught on the prop. Went over the side and cleared it off by hand.

What we did here

Tucked into the Ensenada de San Simón on the eastern shore of the Ría de Vigo, San Adrián de Cobres is a quiet mussel-farming village — boats head out to the bateas every morning. We’re leaving the boat on the pontoon here for two and a half weeks while we fly home for some land time before the next leg.
